Opinions or suggestions for figure/recreational skates?
I’m looking into take adult beginner lessons for ice skating and no specific skate is required so I’ve been looking into general skates both recreational and figure. I don’t want to spend a ton of money when I’m just starting out so I’m trying to keep it below $100. There’s a few that I’ve found that I’m wondering if anyone has any suggestions or opinions about them or any other skates I might be interested that are decent.
The ones I’m looking at currently are:

The only skates on your list that I think would be good for an adult beginner are the Jackson Softskate Plus figure skates. However, they are very much for beginners or recreational skaters, not really for figure skating and nothing can be adjusted on them to fit you better. (For example, some people who pronate need the blades moved a notch.) The blades do get dull after ten hours or so, so plan on getting them sharpened often. The boots have good support and are comfortable. Once you pass the first Adult skating test, you’ll need to buy another pair of skates because the low-end skates won’t provide the flexibility or support needed for the skills.
Since you’re an adult, we can assume that your feet aren’t going to grow, so why not invest in good quality skates that will last you a long time and provide you with sturdy support to prevent injuries?
Go to a rink’s pro shop and have them measure your feet using both the Jackson and Reidell measuring stick. Write down both manufacturer’s sizes (width as well as length.) If you don’t order skates from the pro shop, they’ll probably charge you around $10, but it’s well worth it to know the correct size.
Ask about consignment skates, but always try on the skates before you buy. Sometimes the leather is dried out on old skates, or they might be weak. If the blades are mounted with rivets, don’t buy them – they can’t be adjusted if anything’s wrong.
