Owned by Italian firm, Luxottica, after a takeover in 2007 – the company also boast Vogue and Ray Ban to their name, Oakley are now a worldwide designer eyewear manufacturer.

The company was formed in 1975 by a man named Jim Jannard, who named the company after his dog. Jannard’s first invention was a grip for motorcycle handles. It was unlike any other at the time as it was made from his own unique, patented material, Unobtainium.. The grips actually increased grip with sweat, a major unique selling point in the sporting world. This was the small start of a company that is now worth nearly a billion dollars. The Oakley Whisker Prescription OX3107 glasses are a special rendition of Oakley’s popular sunglasses now designed to fit prescription lenses.
