Although soft is good, too soft is not so good and can make completion of some exercises difficult, making a thick yoga mat your ideal solution to the problem, being that they are soft but also thick enough to gain all the benefits you want.
It is imperative that you have suitable and adequate support when you are performing your routine; your support also needs to have suitable flexibility in that you want it to absorb some of the impact from your jumps, as well as preventing any sudden slips and movements, allowing you to concentrate on your routine.
