small block chevy 400?

i have a 400 small block casting 509 , its std. bore with only 45,000 orginal miles on it. i bought a
940050 – Scat 9000 Cast Pro Comp Lightweight Stroker Crankshafts that uses 5.7 rods my question is with bigger rods is the cubic inch still a 400 ?? also will it hurt this block any by keeping it std bore ?? im not building a monster just something decent . or should i get it bored ?? also i have orginal 400 tubro trany that was hooked to motor should i use it or a 350 in my 71 el camino i have a tci 3000 stall im wanting to use with it. any help or thought would be helpfull.
yes its a 3.75 stroke, the pistons wall looks good and the ridge i can wipe them off not much ridge at all , i was planing on honing the piston bore to get the glazing off , ill be using eagle 5.7 rods and of cource new pistons, only reasion why i dont want to bore it 30 over is because it really dont need it and im looking at over heating problems

Your final cubic inch displacement , will be determined by the length of stroke.
SBC 400= 4.125 × 3.75 in
You failed to specify that. Im guessing that by looking at the scat cranks its 3.75 inch.
Its a standard stroke for a 400. The longer rods mean shorter pistons, IE lighter.
If it is a longer than 3.75 inch stroke it will add dispacement and the engine will be larger.
The SBC 427 is 4.125″/4.00″, Whether or not you want to bore the engine ,should be determined by the wear in the cylinders. Measure them at the top center and bottom , with a micrometer.
You should be able to tell by the ridge at the top of the cylinders anyway. You have to remove the ridge regardless, to prevent breaking the rings after assembly with new rings. It would be a good idea to hot tank the engine bore the engine and install new cam bering’s,pistons , main bering’s and rod bering’s as well as new freeze plugs. This is because you don’t want to tear down this engine again in a short time do you? I have built a lot of engines and I know that money dictates , what you will do. But if you can afford it do it all , and you wont be sorry down the road that you didn’t.
It would not hurt the engine to keep it standard bore ,as long as you remove the ridge .
But you have to get the pistons pressed on new rods and you have to get new pistons and rings ,
If you don’t go oversize you probally will be sorry down the road. It cost about 100 bucks to hot tank
a block, and less than a hundred to have the engine bored.
The turbo 400 is a better more heavy duty transmission than the 350. and BTW it sounds like one cool El Camino in the works.^^ If not much ridge is there , just use a ridge reamer and it should be fine.
