Primary Clutch on CVT?
Hey, I have a question regarding the primary clutch on a Variable belt diameter continuously variable transmission for snowmobiles/four wheelers.
How are the pulleys mounted onto the output shaft from the engine? I understand how the pulleys work relative to each other but i don’t know how you mount the whole setup on the engine output shaft. It it a press fit or a spline or something else?
Any info is helpful, i’m doing a project about continuously variable transmissions and trying to wrap my head around them, and how they are put together.
Usually, these pulleys are mounted using a key in a slot that’s ground into the shaft.
You slide the pulley on then gently insert the key, and tap it into place.
This keeps the pulley from slipping on the shaft.
