Help with Snowboard Boots ???

I measure at a women’s 5.5, so I got a pair of 5.5 Northwave Topaz boots. I went riding the other day and my heels lift up. Do I need to go with a 4.5?? The only reason I’m hesitant to go a size lower is because my toes are already pretty scrunched up when I’m not riding.

Your heels should always lift up A LITTLE when you are riding. If they lift up more than 1/2 an inch you aren’t tying your boots tight enough. When buying snowboard boots you always buy your shoe size. If you go smaller, your toes could go numb and you won’t have as much feel, so your boarding won’t be as controlled.

When you tie your boots, your feet should be snug, they shouldn’t move much, and your heels should lift up in your boots ONLY A LITTLE. If your toes go numb, then you have tied them too tight.

The boots don’t really madder as long as they are all mountain. What madders is the kind of board and bindings you buy. Since your a beginner, get an all terrain (freestyle/ all mountain) board and bindings. This will be a generic board and binding that will let you ride however and where ever you like. Other boards are specifically tuned for other styles of snowboarding.

BTW: the boots you got (I just checked them out online) look great and will make you a great pair of beginner snowboard boots. Just tie them and bind them right and you will be fine.
