How to Exchange Currency in Costa Rica

Make sure you have your flight, accommodation and a way to get there from the airport booked then you can start thinking about how much money you are going to take. Colons are the money used in Costa Rica. You can change most popular currencies at the San Jose airport, Costa Rica’s main airport, although this will not give you the best exchange rate. A better idea might be to exchange some of your currency at home for Colons and the get extra money while you are in the country itself.

 

Using US dollars in Costa Rica is acceptable in most cases but expect to pay extra than you would when using Colons. If you can’t fond somewhere to change money places that accept US dollar will usually be able to give you change in Colons. If you do decide to exchange US dollars while in Costa Rica be aware that any torn notes will not be accepted.

 

Things You Can’t Miss in Costa Rica

One of the biggest and undoubtedly must see attractions in Costa Rica has to be the Monteverde Cloud Forest. Sutiable to people accross the generations you will see photographers as well as families on holiday here. You can see the butterfly garden in the town, which has a huge diversity of exotic species.

 

Check out an active volcano, Volcan Arenal is a great opportunity to get up and close with the sheer brute force of nature. You can enjoy hot springs around the town and you will be treated to amazing views from the confort of the surrounding hotels.
