Gingerbread House – Any cool decorating ideas?
My son has asked me to buy sweets for this project in his cooking class. Have purchased smarties, freckles, milky bar kid shapes (inc. cow!), and heart shaped marshmallows. Would you like to suggest some other sweets or perhaps a variation of theme? Thanks for all your help.
Ps. He does not like licorice which is why I didn’t by allsorts shapes, etc. Do you think musk (or citrus flavoured) sticks would be too much?
Thanks – Lots of ideas. I actually didn’t know you weren’t supposed to eat it. That would be a shame; he loves gingerbread. I think most of the lollies will be eaten before they get to the gingerbread house!
If you buy chewing gum he could use it to make a brick pattern. Cinnamon flavors usually are a red or pink color if he wants to be realistic.
If he wants a really cool chimney I’ve found candies that look just like rocks at specialty candy shops.
Shredded coconut dyed with green food coloring is good for grass or hedges.
An ice cream cone turned upside down can make a pretty tree in the yard when you decorate it.
