Am I being taken for a ride…is the car worth fixing?
I have a 1996 VW Golf, with 152 K miles on it which lost power while driving, and stopped. The VW dealer gave me the following laundry list of items and prices..they will throw in the 40K interval mile service for free
COIL AND WIRE SET 426.00

He stated that it would last me another 50-60K miles, once fixed. Given the age and mileage is $2,600 worth paying for this. Are the prices too help.

Thank you everyone! My check engine light has been on (and off) for the past two years, and the regular mechanics (non dealers) couldn’t figure out the problem…one of them would just put it out…the other recommended going to the dealer – never will buy a VW again. Thank you all for your responses.
if it lost power i doubt the problem is coils & wires AND throttle body.
they are the expensive ones. ask them what is causing your problem- its one or the other.
and thats a bloody expensive brake flush!
