A Quick Guide On What A Woman Should Wear For A Job Interview
A job interviewer often begins to assess you the minute you walk into the interview scene. That’s why it is very important to mind what you’ll be wearing. As they always say, first impressions last. And some interviewers won’t bother to find out more about you if you’re not dressed to impress.
Pick a two-piece suit that looks professional and conservative. It’s always safe to stick to colors like brown, black, navy or dark gray. Steer clear of something with loud colors and patterns. Underneath the suit’s top, wear a blouse that goes well with the suit.
If you’re planning on wearing a skirt, opt for something that’s a little below the knee in length. High slits are definitely a no-no. Some women find wearing pants much more beneficial, as they need not worry about accidentally exposing themselves before the interviewer. Pants should be tailored, and not as tight as a pair of jean skinny.
You don’t want to walk in the room with jingling metal sounds. That is why you should opt for simple jewelry items that are corporate looking. The same is true with other fashion accessories you’re intending to sport. If you wish to carry a purse, go for something that matches your suit. Avoid clutching something too flashy or massive.
When it comes to footwear, it’s always advisable to stick to basic closed-toe pumps. Pick a pair with 1- to 2-inch heels. Sure a pair of women’s brown boots look fashionable, but not during a job interview. It’s better to go with a simple pair than extreme ones. Put on neutral-colored stockings if you’re wearing a skirt.
If you bought a new pair of shoes exclusive for the interview, practice walking in them. Check if the front puts pressure on your toes after some time, or if blisters are likely. You don’t want to walk in the room looking like you’re in pain. Also, tripping up is not really a nice way of making a first impression.
As with cosmetics, it’s better to wear some than not wear any at all. But do keep it minimal, simple and elegant. Clip your nails. Steer clear of screaming nail polish colors. Better yet, wear none at all. Apply eau de parfum spray moderately. Pick something lightly scented and pleasing.
If you plan ahead what to wear for the interview, you’ll be more confident. That’s because you know you’re wearing something appropriate, to impress the interviewer right away. To a potential employer, how you dress says a lot about your personality and skills.
