Am I ok with the size L Burton cartel bindings?
Or should I get mediums? I wear a size 10 Burton Ozone boot. The cartel bindings state that a meduim is boot size 8-11, while large is for boot sizes 10 and up. Are there any downsides to having bindings that are a bit too big?
the main problem with bindings that are too big would be improper strap placement. the placement really wouldn’t change all that much though, and your control would be basically the same. Also, if the bindings are too big, the heel cup will be further back, causing your feet to be off center of the board, potentially messing up your toe side carving ability and causing heel drag. another potential problem with too big of bindings is that the straps themselves would probably be longer, leaving flappy excess hanging off when you’re strapped in, and that always bothers me. unless you’re worried about having your feet grow to a size 12, I’d play it safe and go with the medium.
