Beginner: Is this a good setup?

2008 Burton Bullet 154, Burton Moto boots(black, size 11), Burton Custom bindings(black, size L). I’m a beginner but I thought it would be smart to just buy my stuff now so I can get use to the feel of my own eqiupment. I got some pants that are 3,000g waterproof. Are these good enough? I have everything but googles, because I can’t figure out what color lens to get, and a coat. What color googles should I get? I have a Carhartt jacket. Do you think that is good enough? Or should I use something different?

depends. board size depends on wieght and height. A 154 – I would guess 5’7″ish and 150 lbs or around there is in the middle of the boards range.

THe first few runs will feel different and you may fall, but getting used to your own board, it is a good idea.

Pants depends on the weather when you go. My pants are jsut water resistant, suits me jsut fine. I don’t sit down too much. 5k waterproof is usually standard, but I’d take 3k.

googles, color depends on conditions. Really bright conditions you want darker goggles. If your riding at night, you want clear. I like yellow tinted googles – they work well in flat light. Red works very well in bright conditions. Supposedly mirror coatings help in birght conditions too, w/e. A cheap pair of smith goggles would work well in most conditions – $20. Or use sunglasses.

I have no idea what a carhartt jacket is but if its waterproof or at least water-resistant it will work well. If it doesn’t have much heft to it and its cold out, wear layers like a fleece or sweater or something. Dressing in layers is always a good idea.

Worry more about good snow conditions than gear set-up. Also have you considered getting a helmet or impact shorts. Could lesson the hurt the day after riding
