Grand Targhee Ski Resort – Alta, WY 07.03.05 $12.95 Gov’t MuleGrand Targhee Ski Resort07.03.05Alta, WY It’s safe to say that at 8,500 feet of altitude the Mule was as high as it is going to get during the Voodoo Caravan Tour. Set below the towering peaks of the Grand Targhee Ski Resort’s slopes, the small stage drew its power from the chair lifts. Unfortunately for the crowd, there was not enough power for a light show, but the audible part of the event more than made up for that. The day got underway with Colonel Bruce Hampton and the Code Talkers and PBS (G. Porter, R. Batiste, B. Stoltz) among others. Just before the Mule, Blues Traveler took us back to songs of the past, and got the sunburned crowd ready for some Haynes. Highlights of the show include the Beatles’ “You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away”, and Warren dedicating “I Think You Know What I Mean” to Dick Cheney, who slowed our travel plans down by flying into the Jackson Hole airport and throwing a wrench into the small airport’s routine. “You Suck, Dick.” Brian Stoltz came out for the Nola-flavoured “32/20 Blues,” and the “That’s Why I’m Here(rewrite #2)” was a special moment for the serious Mule fan.
